Each medical plans has its own benefits and terms. How do you choose the one that suits your needs the most?

Nancy

  • Employee Only coverage

  • Generally healthy with some allergies

  • Has a family history of skin cancer

Nancy would be best off in the Cigna OAP 2000 HSA plan.

  • She benefits from both low paycheck contributions and the automatic HSA contribution she receives from Enjoy.

  • Under the Cigna OAP 2000 HSA plan, she receives an automatic HSA contribution from Enjoy, and she can build a savings account to use for future medical expenses.

  • Under the Cigna OAP 2000 HSA plan, she can choose to see out-of-network providers and still receive coverage (at a lower coverage level than in-network).

Jim

  • Employee Only coverage

  • Generally healthy and enjoys hiking and playing sports with friends on the weekend

  • Has to visit an emergency room in 2021

  • He’s interested in saving money on a tax advantaged basis

Jim would be best off in the Cigna HMO or Kaiser HMO plan or the Cigna OAP 2000 HSA plan.

  • Under the Cigna HMO plan, he benefits from low out-of-pocket costs when he needs care

  • Under the Cigna OAP 2000 HSA plan, he benefits from low monthly contributions.  He also receives an automatic HSA contribution from Enjoy which helps to offset the cost of his medical expenses over the course of the year.  Although he uses up the entire contribution in 2021, he has an opportunity to build a savings account to use for future medical expenses.

   Kaiser HMO plan is available to employees who live in Kaiser’s service areas in CA, OR or WA.

Peter and his spouse 

  • Covers himself and his spouse

  • Peter is generally healthy

  • His spouse takes a specialty drug and has regular office visits

  • Peter values the flexibility to see out-of-network provide

Peter would be best off in the Cigna HMO or Kaiser HMO plan   or the Cigna OAP 500 PPO plan.
